Recycling

Little Rock Recycling — The Core Four, Every Other Week

Little Rock’s curbside recycling program uses a “Core Four” approach: paper, cardboard, metal cans, and plastic bottles & containers. Recycling is collected every other week (biweekly) on a Green Week / Gold Week rotation. The City sub-contracts this service to a third-party hauler. Items must be clean, empty, and dry.

✅ Accepted in the Recycling Cart (Core Four)

  • Paper: newspapers, magazines, office paper, junk mail, paper bags
  • Cardboard: flattened corrugated cardboard and box board
  • Metal cans: aluminum cans, steel and tin cans, empty aerosol cans
  • Plastic bottles & containers: bottles, jugs, cups, tubs (rinsed and dry)

🚫 Never in the Recycling Cart

  • Plastic bags or film → Green Station drop-off
  • Electronics or batteries → Green Station
  • Glass → Green Station drop-off (not in curbside cart)
  • Organic waste or food scraps → garbage cart
  • Tanglers: hoses, cords, holiday lights
  • Styrofoam or packing materials
  • Shredded paper
⚠ Glass is not accepted in the curbside recycling cart in Little Rock. Empty glass bottles and jars must be brought to the Green Station at 2000 S Thayer Street (Mon–Thu, 7 AM–5 PM; last Saturday of the month, 7 AM–1 PM).
💡 Extra cardboard? Large amounts of flattened cardboard can be dropped off at designated cardboard drop-off locations around Little Rock. Never put cardboard inside a garbage bag before placing it in the recycling cart.
Yard Waste

Little Rock Yard Waste Collection

Yard waste is collected weekly on the business day after your garbage day. For example, if your garbage is Monday, yard waste is Tuesday. Do not place yard waste in your city-issued garbage cart. All yard waste must be placed within 5 feet of the curb by 7:00 AM on your collection day.

✅ Accepted as Yard Waste

  • Leaves, grass clippings, and weeds in bags, boxes, or cans max 30 gallons / 50 lbs
  • Small twigs and prunings (bagged or in cans)

  • Dirt, rock, or sod
  • Oversized yard waste (over limits) requires special pickup — call 311

Both are available for purchase at the landfill scale house: Compost: $25/ton • Wood Mulch: $25/ton. Call the landfill scale house at (501) 888-5806 for availability. Staff will load your vehicle.
