Two-Day Group System

Lubbock’s Two-Day Collection Group System

Every Lubbock residence served by the city is assigned to one of two groups. Garbage is collected twice per week — once in the first half of the week and once in the second half. All carts and dumpsters must be at the curb by 7:00 AM on each collection day.

📅

Group A — Monday & Thursday

Garbage collected every Monday and every Thursday. Carts/dumpsters at the curb by 7:00 AM both days.

Twice weekly • ~$16.25/month
📅

Group B — Tuesday & Friday

Garbage collected every Tuesday and every Friday. Carts/dumpsters at the curb by 7:00 AM both days.

Twice weekly • ~$16.25/month

⏰ Set-Out Rules

  • Carts and dumpsters must be at the curb by 7:00 AM on each collection day.
  • Twice-weekly garbage collection is included in the city’s solid waste utility fee (approximately $16.25/month).
  • Some larger neighborhoods (e.g., Bell Farms) may be split between Group A and Group B. Always verify your specific address.
  • Loads transported to Citizen Convenience Stations must be covered to prevent spilling.
💡 Verify your group before your first pickup. Call Solid Waste at (806) 775-2495 or use the lookup at mylubbock.us to confirm whether your address is Group A (Mon/Thu) or Group B (Tue/Fri). Getting the wrong day means a 3-day wait for the next pickup.

Hazardous Waste & Used Oil

Household Hazardous Waste & Used Oil in Lubbock

Hazardous household products should never go in regular garbage dumpsters. Lubbock Solid Waste Management provides specific drop-off options for these materials at the Citizen Convenience Stations.

⚖ Used Oil, Antifreeze & Oil Filters — Free at All Stations

Used motor oil, used antifreeze, and used oil filters are accepted free of charge at all four Citizen Convenience Stations during regular operating hours (Mon–Sat, 8:00 AM–5:30 PM). No appointment needed. This keeps these fluids out of storm drains and groundwater.

🔥 Other Hazardous Waste & Electronics

For paints, chemicals, batteries, and electronics, contact Solid Waste Management at (806) 775-2495 for current accepted materials and any scheduled HHW collection events. The Caliche Canyon Landfill (8425 N. Avenue P) and West Texas Regional Disposal Facility (17304 N. FM 2528, Abernathy) serve as the region’s primary disposal sites for materials not accepted at city stations.

💡 Never pour motor oil or antifreeze down a storm drain. It flows directly to waterways and groundwater. All four Citizen Convenience Stations accept used oil and antifreeze free of charge during regular hours — no special trip needed when you’re already dropping off yard debris or bulk items.
