⏰ Set-Out Rules

  • Place trash containers at the curb before 7:00 AM on collection day. Set out the evening before to avoid missing early-morning collection.
  • Collectors operate 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM — your truck can arrive any time in that window.
  • All household garbage must be bagged and inside a container before curbside placement to prevent litter.
  • Bulk items: place at the curb before 7:00 AM on your 2nd collection day, but no earlier than 24 hours before scheduled pickup.
  • Wash your cans regularly with mild, phosphate-free soap and water to control odors.

🚚 Accepted Bulk Items (2nd Collection Day)

  • Furniture (sofas, chairs, tables, dressers)
  • Mattresses and box springs
  • Radios and televisions
  • Toilets and bathroom fixtures
  • Bagged leaves and yard debris

Limit: 2 bulk items per 2nd collection day visit. Appliances (refrigerators, washers, dryers, stoves, water heaters) and tires are not collected on bulk day — see the Special Waste section below for those procedures.

🚫 Not accepted at curbside: Chemicals, paints, oils, hazardous or flammable waste, and construction debris (concrete, sand, brick, rock, carpet, wood) are never accepted in regular residential collection.
Holiday Schedule

Jackson Holiday Trash Collection Schedule 2026

Your regular collection day will not change unless your collection day falls on or after one of the five City-observed holidays. If your day falls on or after a holiday, collection shifts to the following collection day that week.

Holiday2026 DateImpactWhat Happens
New Year’s DayThu, Jan 1Possible DelayRoutes on/after Thu Jan 1 shift to the next collection day. Mon–Wed routes: normal.
MLK DayMon, Jan 19Possible DelayMonday routes shift. All routes on/after Jan 19 that week move to the next collection day.
Independence DaySat, Jul 4NormalFalls on Saturday — no weekday impact. Regular service all week.
Thanksgiving DayThu, Nov 26Possible DelayRoutes on/after Thu Nov 26 shift to the next collection day. Mon–Wed routes: normal.
Christmas DayFri, Dec 25Possible DelayFriday routes shift to the next collection day. Mon–Thu routes that week: normal.
💡 Rule of thumb: If your collection day falls on or after a holiday, expect your pickup to be pushed to the next collection day that week. Days earlier in the week than the holiday are unaffected.
