“Bag It!” — Fall Leaf Collection Program
Flint residents are required to rake and bag leaves for curbside collection. During the annual Bag It! program (typically beginning in October through mid-November), leaf-filled yard waste bags are collected on your regular trash pickup day.
🍂 Bag It! Rules
- Do not rake leaves into the street. Citations will be issued to residents raking leaves into the roadway. Only leaves in the public right-of-way between the curb and sidewalk (from non-residential trees) may be swept by the city.
- Use yard waste bags available at local stores. Bags are collected on your regular weekly collection day during the program.
- Leaves can also be composted or mulched on your property as an alternative.
- Watch for city announcements about the official Bag It! start and end dates each fall.
