Brush & Bulk

Arlington Brush & Bulk Item Collection Rules

Brush and bulk items are collected on the same day as your regular trash. Brush is collected every week. Bulk items are collected every other week on your recycling day. Place all items at the curb by 7:00 a.m. Items placed out on non-collection days may be subject to code violations.

🌿 Brush & Yard Waste (Weekly)

  • Up to 2 cubic yards of bundled brush and/or bagged leaves per collection day (2 cubic yards ≈ 12–15 30-gallon bags of leaves).
  • Bundled brush and bagged leaves must weigh less than 35 pounds each.
  • Place next to (not inside) the trash cart.
  • No container required — just bundle branches and bag leaves.
  • Branches should be bundled and cut to manageable lengths.

📦 Bulk Items (Every Other Week — Recycling Day)

  • Bulk items are collected on your recycling day (every other week), on the same day as the blue cart.
  • Limit of one bulk item per bulk service day (approximately 2 cubic yards, the size of a washer and dryer).
  • Place at curb by 7:00 a.m. on your recycling/bulk day.
  • For items that are too large or heavy for regular crews to handle, call Republic Services at 817-317-2000 to schedule a special pickup.
  • Do not place bulk items out on non-collection days — this may result in a code violation.

Accepted bulk items include furniture, appliances (freon items require special handling — call first), mattresses, and other large household items that cannot fit inside the gray trash cart.

⚪ Annual free leaf drop-off program. Each fall/winter, Arlington operates free Leaf Recycling Drop-Off sites where residents can bring bagged leaves. Leaves collected through this program are converted to free mulch, which Arlington residents can pick up at the Arlington Landfill in the spring. Watch arlingtontx.gov for dates and locations announced each year.
Landfill & Drop-Off

Hazardous Waste

Hazardous Waste — Fort Worth Environmental Collection Center

Arlington does not operate its own household hazardous waste facility. Residents dispose of HHW at the Fort Worth Environmental Collection Center (ECC) at no charge. Arlington residents with a valid Arlington address on their driver’s license or current water bill are eligible for this free service.

Address: 6400 Bridge Street, Fort Worth, TX

Free for Arlington residents (and Fort Worth metro area residents). Show proof of Arlington residency.

Accepted: paint, motor oil, batteries, pesticides, aerosol cans, used oil, gasoline, antifreeze, cleaning products, fluorescent bulbs, and more.

For current hours and accepted materials, visit arlingtontx.gov and search “Environmental Collection Center” or call 817-459-6777.

⚠ Batteries & electronics MUST NOT go in trash or recycling carts. Batteries and electronics in carts can start fires inside collection trucks and at recycling facilities. Take batteries and electronics to the Fort Worth ECC (6400 Bridge St.) or to the Arlington Sanitation Administration Building drop-off (817 E. Mayfield Rd.) during a special electronics recycling event. The City of Arlington periodically holds free shredding and electronics recycling events — check arlingtontx.gov for upcoming dates.

  • Placing bulk items out on non-recycling weeks — bulk pickup is only every other week on your recycling day
  • Forgetting recycling is every other week — confirm your A/B week with the My Area tool or Republic Services app
  • Exceeding the 64-gallon extra recycling limit without knowing a $9.01 fee applies, or contaminating the blue cart ($33.49 fee)
